CEDC joins forces to complete engine rebuild project for Valley Power Systems Inc. of Los Angeles CA., for a USCG project in Honolulu.
Clark received a call from long time colleagues at Valley Power Systems, in Los Angeles, to supervise the major engine rebuild on a Honolulu based USCG High Endurance Cutter, which was headed for patrol in Alaska. Clark, working for Valley Power Inc., spent the time working directly with the ships crew, and Marisco Shipyard, in Honolulu to repair and upgrade the engine correctly as fast as possible.
The project included a new crank, line bore, new power assemblies, gear train and all major components, reassembly and testing of an EMD auxiliary engine. The project was very tight and complicated considering that one of the main engines, an OP Fairbanks Morris, was also being overhauled, at the same time. This stretched the procurement of parts, shoreside and shipboard support, ships fuel tank repairs, the ships crew and officers to the limit. The project moved ahead and the ships plan, to head to patrol in Alaska was achieved. Clark sends a big Aloha and Mahalo, (thank you,) to the USCG crew, Valley Power Systems, and the shipyard, that all worked together and made the engine rebuild and vessel repairs a success.
